Keeping health care providers connected

BEI Construction recently completed two projects for Stanford Health Care. Both projects involved upgrading cabling infrastructure to meet Stanford Health Care’s high standards for connectivity and security. With the projects complete, the professionals at the facilities have the cabling backbone they need to support them as deliver exceptional patient care.

Stanford Health Care – ValleyCare
ValleyCare has been providing health care services in the Tri-Valley region of the East Bay for more than 50 years. The ValleyCare system joined Stanford Health Care in 2015, becoming Stanford Health Care – ValleyCare. Leaders at the organization decided to evaluate its technology infrastructure. BEI did an extensive survey of the current backbone, and made recommendations for pathways needed to support new fiber optic infrastructure.

After completing the survey phase of the project, BEI installed CAT6A cabling, which meet the health care system’s standards. BEI completed the project in an operational office and clinical environment. Minimizing disruptions to care delivery, the BEI team kept the current infrastructure running while installing the new cabling. BEI switched over to the new infrastructure during evenings and scheduled shutdowns.

Stanford Health Care – Redwood City
BEI undertook a similar project at Stanford Health Care’s Redwood City facilities. In buildings C and D in Redwood City, BEI installed 2,400 CAT6A network cables along with OM4 and single mode fiber optic backbone. The build-out included installation of 3 OSHPH-compliant telecom distribution rooms. BEI also installed all of the security cabling on the project and tied it into the existing security system.

“Now more than ever, state-of-art health care depends on connectivity,” says BEI President Mike Rantz. “On the recent Stanford projects, we installed the fast, reliable cabling infrastructure health care facilities require today. Precise coordination and scheduling helped us deliver the projects while minimizing disruption.”
